About
I specialize in helping people in their 20s and 30s find their way. My aim is to help people live lives that are more satisfying and fulfilling.
Therapy helps us see ourselves, others, and life in general in a new way. We’re able to look at how our experience has shaped us and see the patterns of thinking and behaving that no longer serve us. Then, we’re free to discover who we actually are.
Therapy with me is relaxed and conversational. I provide a safe space in which to explore what’s important to you. You are free to discuss your greatest hopes and fears. You can expect calm, compassion, empathy, intuition and non-judgment. I practice medium to long-term therapy (typically 6 months or more) and I meet with people once a week for a full 60-minute hour ($150 per session).
I decided to become a psychotherapist as a result of my own transformative experience in therapy. I went to therapy because I was suffering, stuck, and generally lost. Over time, I found a new sense of peace and freedom, along with the feeling of being more at home in myself and in the world.
I trained at the Centre for Training in Psychotherapy, a 6-year master’s-level program.
I’ve had a wide variety of work experience, mostly in the helping professions. As a registered nurse, I worked in community-based treatment programs for people living with psychosis and in the emergency department of a mental health hospital.
If you would like to schedule a free 30-minute consultation, please contact me at michaelgbernard7@gmail.com. This meeting will help us to figure out if we’re a good fit and give you a chance to ask any questions that you may have. I usually am able to reply within 24 hours.
