Psychotherapy helps by providing an opportunity to share your deepest struggles and your day-to-day challenges. Honest reflection allows untapped potential to flourish.

In our fast-paced world, we can default to old patterns and lose track of creativity and spontaneity. You have reasons for the patterns and choices in your life, and these are best addressed in therapeutic conversation, in a confidential setting, with appropriate boundaries, at your own pace.

The person who comes to my office with a problem also brings its solution, even if it seems inaccessible at first. I facilitate contact with your deepest wishes, needs, values, and fears, without judging or criticizing you. Although at times the work may be painful, it is part of building and (re)discovering a core of health. Your treatment goals will guide how we proceed.

Meeting at least once a week enables us to reach deeper layers of your story and your current struggles. We can form an alliance over time, allowing us to be curious about the currents of aliveness that escape ordinary attention. I work closely with dreams and with the products of your unconscious mind while engaging you in a dialogue that allows you to assert your needs and hear your own inner voice clearly, sometimes for the first time in a long time. Your unconscious and your emotions also live in your body and your nervous system, and we will attend to verbal and non-verbal signals. Psychodynamic work involves exploring the dynamics that play out between us and what we can learn about you and your psyche. You may carry and embody more of your history than you realize, and greater insight can help you move forward. We will keep your strengths in mind while we explore your concerns. Many people feel pressed for time and easily distracted by technology. I would ask that you put away/silence any devices during sessions. My fee is $145, to be paid by e-transfer prior to each 50-minute session.

Warning: This work may result in an increased sense of agency in your own life.

I am continually amazed by what happens when two people truly communicate. My background in media, the arts, and not-for-profits in Toronto has shown me that genuine dialogue can move mountains. I am fascinated by how narratives (the stories we tell and the stories we live) can affect us and those around us. In seven years at The Centre for Training in Psychotherapy, I learned many effective approaches which I have incorporated into my practice. Working as a therapist since 2013, I have experience building capacity and resiliency with many individuals including people who have been traumatized. I’m engaged by many theories, researchers and thinkers whose work I find relevant and useful. I’m also informed by fiction and non-fiction, music, film and TV, given that artists are often more insightful about human psychology than any textbook.

If you are interested in scheduling a half-hour initial remote consultation, at no cost, please email me at rachelfulfordto@gmail.com. Please note that no one can guarantee the privacy of electronic communications; my gmail account is for scheduling and administrative purposes only.

I work from my office in Toronto, and currently offer a mutual option for in-person as well as remote therapy.

My fee is $145, to be paid by e-transfer prior to each 50-minute session.
